Axonometric Intersection

“A square, framing various interlocking, rectangular shapes, is intersected along its horizontal axis by an axonometric parallelogram, revealing more colors and panes, thus emphasizing a tension between the stable, square shape, and a suggested, more horizontal surface, which is spatially, and simultaneously, advancing and receding. Dated 02.22.22. So often hard-edged geometry is mythologized as cold and static, but I think these pieces, in their brilliant color and playfulness, reopen a dialogue with the abstract idiom in a much more playful and vital manner. Minimalism has often been associated with the ‘death of painting’, but I believe that the true nature of ‘sacred geometry’ is that it is open-ended and filled with possibility, even a sensation of delight, if not transcendental possibility.”
