“Distress is an acrylic collage work on canvas with paint pens marking the figure. The Morse code featured
prominently on the left says DISTRESS. The background collage work is the recycled paper from a MassHealth
information handbook. As a woman with a disability, a doctor’s care is very important. When you have limited
means and resources, health care is a must. The figure is distressed because she is not sure her next
treatment is covered under her health care.”
