“Painted to & inspired by the sublime ballad, āJe Suis Maladeā, by Laura Fabian – I became completely immersed in the emotion & movement of this song. I listened to it hundreds & hundreds of times as I worked on this piece as I morn & process the passing of my father in June. The song is a soulās cry to the winds – about the anguish of the loss of love – which is how mourning feels for me.
Using only my fingers – no brushes or instruments were used to create the shapes & textures – I envisioned a solitary dancer – moving about the stage, her movements carrying out the depths of her despair at the loss of a loved one – her costume reflecting purples, violets, blues, greens, & teals – shifting & shimmering – like sunlight shifting through a wet mist of tears.”
